Let’s face it! This lockdown is a bitch. Even though we aren’t as busy in the streets as we may have
been, for most of us, there is still a lot to do. I create flyers, newsletters, write business plans, cook and
think about what I want to eat. One thing I know for sure is that I am going to need to go shopping
when this is over. Not that I want to or can afford to but because I won’t fit most of what I wear when I
can finally leave the house. I EAT ALL DAY!
A few nights ago, I just wanted something basic. I didn’t feel like channeling my inner “Carla Hall” to
whip up something fancy that used lots of ingredients and a multitude of dishes and utensils. So, I went

As luck would have it, I was already sipping on an inexpensive Rosso di Toscano and the pairing couldn’t
have been more perfect. The Sangiovese based wine was the perfect accompaniment to the tomato-
based meat sauce. A nice balance of fruit with medium acid lending credence to the saying “what grows
together goes together”. With the addition of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this blend offers dark red
berries with a medium finish. Red wine and pasta with red sauce isn’t some nuanced pairing. But
sometimes it is good to reminded of the comforts of a classic. It felt like home (if I lived in Italy). A girl
